Sibu's walkway built to cover the unsightly Lembangan River, in front of the Tanahmas Hotel, is a beautiful landscaping project.

The 150-metre long walkway project was a joint effort of the Sibu Municipal Council and the Drainage and Irrigation Department and was part of the second phase of the nearby Sibu Gateway project.

It would provide an ideal place for the people to while away their time especially in the evening with cafes be built alongside to offer quality food and drinks like in some western countries.

Besides greenery planted along its entire length, it also featured 12 granite balls at each end, which were imported from China.

In the evening the balls will emit mist from jet sprays on their sides and water will gush out from their middle sprouts, creating a lovely spectacle synchronised by colourful lighting.

The project is the only of its kind in Sarawak, thus citizens urged to guard this very beautiful public property from those bent on vandalising such project so that all including visitors can enjoy it for a long time to come.
